WORD Force: A Literacy Adventure is an excellent tool to help improve reading. These fun, free reading games give students the foundational reading skills they need in a fun, engaging practice that you can use as an enrichment or alongside your current reading program. If you’re in elementary school, this tool is a win for you; the kids will love it. Parents will too!

EVERFI sponsored this post. All opinions are my own.

What Reading Skills Does WORD Force Teach?

WORD Force is a research-based early literacy course that is free for teachers. Targeted to students in kindergarten through second grade, this is an excellent free course to use to teach:

  • Phonological awareness skills like rhyming (cat, sat)
  • Phonics skills like putting alphabet letters together to make written words
  • Spelling words like cat, sock, bike, and rain
  • Vocabulary building to know and use many words
  • Reading comprehension skills to understand the meaning of stories

The students are playing games, but as a teacher, you'll have lesson plans, activities, and discussion guides to accompany the lessons.

Additionally, you can recommend this to parents for them to play with their children at home. What a fun way to practice reading and learn together!

WORD Force is free from EVERFI, which has the ISTE Seal and Digital Promise Certification. Let's look at some of the things students will see and do in these fun, free reading games.
