Kings & Queens of Corbet's
Just as the X Games finish up in Aspen, Jackson Hole is prepping for the Kings & Queens of Corbet’s competition. An annual freeride skiing and snowboarding event that takes place on the legendary Corbet’s Couloir is scheduled for next week, February 4-11. The event features some of the world’s most exciting and decorated skiers and snowboarders who huck themselves off the cornice above Corbet’s Couloir in hopes of being named “King” or “Queen” of Corbet’s. This year marks the 6th time this “mind-blowing” competition has been held, and includes a prize pool of over $30,000. Unique to Kings & Queens — the winners are chosen by the athletes themselves — based on factors such as execution, innovation and creativity.

Check out this video of top moments from years past, especially if you’ve never before seen footage from the event.

No live stream in 2023 means that spectators can only watch live and in-person, from below, in Tensleep Bowl as a deep roster of incredible athletes show off their skills and push the boundaries of their sport. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort has promised to provide coverage on their instagram through photos and reels, and a full recap will be available on 2/14 — check for it here: https://www.jacksonhole.com/kings-queens-corbets.

The competition has been taking place annually since 2018. The confirmed lineup this year includes past winners Karl Fostvedt (2018, 2021) and Parkin Costain (2020) as well as reigning queen Piper Kunst and 2020 queen Veronica Paulsen. Other competitors include skier Corey Jackson — a 2022 People’s Choice winner and a Jackson Hole local, as well as skier Jake Hopfinger, snowboarders Yuki Kadono (six-time medalist at the Winter X Games; winner of the 2020 Burton US Open) and Ryan Wachendorfer (4th in halfpipe at 2022 Winter X Games).

Visit Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s website for more information on the event.
