Markon Cooperative BB #:123315 released this From the Fields report April 5, 2024:

California’s Salinas Valley and Santa Maria growing regions received upwards of .5” of rain with estimated totals to reach as high as 1” in the next 24 hours. Oxnard and Huron, California have received less than .10” of total rainfall.

Some suppliers have cancelled harvest due to poor and muddy field conditions. Those that were able to continue with harvest will be working to keep product and boxes as clean and dry as possible; loading delays can be expected.

Markon inspectors are monitoring field conditions and quality closely for issues such as bottom rot, dirt/mud on product, and premature pinking. Maintaining the cold chain is critical for maximizing quality and shelf-life.

Please contact your Markon customer service representative for more information.

Editor’s Note: An earlier version had incorrect rain figures.
