Atomic Bentchetler skis 2022-2023
Atomic has announced a new full line of skis designed by Chris Benchetler for the 2022-23 season. A collaboration that started in 2008, the iconic pow-slashing Bentchetler (a previous Best New Gear Award winner) now comes in a full collection of freeride and freestyle skis. Built with input from Atomic’s pro team of park, pipe and freeride athletes the collection has expanded to include a Bent 110, and two all mountain / park skis at 90 and 85 widths. There is also the addition of a Bent Chetler Mini and Bent JR — both designed for younger skiers. The construction of the Bent Chetler 120 and Bent 100 models has not changed – but receive stunning new top sheets courtesy of Chris Benchetler’s continued progression as a visual artist.

The new Bent 110 is described by Atomic as similar to the Bent Chetler 120, but with slightly less width. It is “Jossi Wells’ go-to for backcountry freestyle, charging lift-served pow laps and days when it’s deep, but not 120-deep.” It features a little less rocker profile than the 120 but maintains the construction fundamentals of Light Woodcore and Carbon Backbone, which Atomic says combine to keep the ski stable and responsive at speed and in variable conditions without adding excess weight.

The new, all-mountain sized, Bentchetler 90 is equivalent to “the Swiss Army knife” of skis according to Atomic athletes Nico and Miguel Porteous. Atomic is billing it as the perfect all terrain / park ski — as enjoyable ripping the mountain as it is hitting the park.

Similar to the Bent 90, the 85 is an all-mountain / park slayer, but forgoes the HRZN tech tip and tail and the carbon backbone. The result is a bit heavier, and possibly damper, compound wood core that brings in the 170cm model at 1750g vs. the 90’s 1600g for its 175cm model.

Additionally, Atomic added a couple of child / teen models in the Bent Chetler Mini and Bent JR. The Mini features the same tech and specs as the original Bent Chetler model but sized for kids 5-13. While the JR is designed for 8-12 year olds looking for a slightly more maneuverable ski capable of all-mountain performance.
